As a frequent VRChat user: the problem is entirely sloppy API design, poor to nonexistent moderation, a security team detached from reality (the team lead posts often in the VRChat Discord, or used to), and the fundamental problem of running a no-stakes social game where getting banned and losing your account is no obstacle to further bad behavior.Randomly banned with no explanation? I got an email saying that my ability to upload worlds and avatars was being suspended, but with good behavior that it would be restored.2. Your IP. 3. Your GPUID. You'd have to change all that to be able to play again without leaving any traces. I found it out by replacing my hardware with older stuff. I changed the graphics card and the hard drive with an older one. Changed my IP address with a free VPN and that was it I was able to play again.

I played VRChat for first time in like a year, only to see my account was banned. I figured my account was hacked and modded on or something. Once reported you get put on a list for someone on the mod team to review and gather evidence on by looking through game logs, video, or something else. If no proof is found, nothing happens.But yea, you can get force-muted basically. But that only happens when you said some really bad shit or were a HUUUGEEE annoyance to other people with your mic spam. Like way above "playing music over my mic" annoyance. In other words your friend likely said or played some pretty bad shit over his mic to get force-muted. 6.
