Bought an 80 CJ-7 with 258. Has Offfenhauser 4-barrel intake manifold. Had Holley 4-barrel when I bought it but ran like crap. Had an Edelbrock 600 CFM carb laying around so I swapped and in 15 minutes Jeep runs great. I think that 600 CFM is a bit much for the 258.It's an Offy 360 degree Equa-Flow. IIRC it didn't fare too well in Jay Browns FE intake comparison over on the FE board, it's pretty much a high rpm intake and severly lacking in the low rpm torque department. It is a 60's vintage intake so the old school FE guys will drool over it on ebay, should fetch $300 plus if you decide to sell. Your gas mileage should be better than a 2 barrel because of the small primaries on the 390 4 barrel. Like.The carburetor is Holley's 390cfm 4160 model with a metering block (no jets or power valve). Offenhauser states that with that intake a towing or RV cam with 5000 rpm max should use the 390.
