To put an acre in perspective, it’s helpful to convert it into more familiar units of measurement. One acre is equal to approximately 43,560 square feet, which is roughly equivalent to 0.4047 hectares. Additionally, an acre is equivalent to 4,046.86 square meters. When you think about it, 43,560 square feet is quite substantial. This is the first of two posts outlining traditional 18th and 19th surveying methods.
