I replaced the front driver side axle shaft seal a year ago, it was a national seal and leaked almost immediately. I replaced it about three years earlier with the same results, always a slow leak. I have a timken seal and new oil, the seal is leaking pretty fast now, my breather tube is clear.

He also left the axle nut too loose causing the new seal to leak worse than the old. I replaced inner and outer bearings and races.
