The serial number is stamped on the bottom of the grip frame. Our test gun's serial number indicates that it was probably made in 1977, before the 10-7 engineering change took place (later in 1977).

Probably shipped between 1962 and 1967. Are you certain of the SN on the butt, as it should fall in the 1967-68 time frame. The original chambering was for .38 S&W (aka .38/200 for .38 round, 200 grain bullet, aka .38 Short and Weak).
